Wedding Bells

I am done!! I am done, done, done!
Yesterday I had spent the entire day crocheting skulls for my cousins wedding (which is tomorrow), and I sneakily finished just before the deadline.
I wasn't even going to worry about it, but then at the last minute my conscience got the best of me, and then spent the day scrambling to finish the rest in one day. Now, I'd like to think I am a pretty average/advanced crocheter, so I was disappointed that it took me roughly an hour to make one (and I made 15 total).
I think it was because of the little hook that would annoyingly snag on the yarn ...and of course we cannot forget 'Toddler Time'.

I had a sudden change of heart because everything for her wedding had not really gone to plan. Everything had arrived late, her bridesmaid had to drop out of the wedding the week prior, and so I figured I could be one person who pulled through for her.

She was very happy to see them so I think it is safe to say she was satisfied with the turn-out.
I had gone out to the venue today to help set-up for the reception which gave me an opportunity to snap some photos of the finished project in their "natural habitat". I also was enlisted to do a little last minute Illustration as well for the wedding that was unexpected (but still fun).

The Skulls waiting to be set out.

The tables being set up.

...and the Illustration.

The theme for the wedding is a Skull/Tattoo/Punk. They are really hardcore people, and to show how hardcore they are they've decided to not purchase rings, but to get them TATTOO'D during the wedding! WHAT?!

Needless to say this will be one of the most interesting wedding I will probably attend in my entire life... and being as the Ceremony itself will probably take a little longer than usual (and the fact that Jack can't sit still for longer than 3 minutes); Steve will be staying home for that portion of the wedding to watch the tyke.

I think this decision also makes Jack happy! Look at how happy he is!!

Edit to add: So, because Jack woke up tonight screaming (apparent nightmare); I thought I'd add some pictures of the wedding... particularly when they were getting the tattoos.

... The tattoo artists getting their stuff prepared...

... The bride and groom getting their "tatties".

It was actually pretty neat to see. Definitely not a traditional wedding, but it was a nice change!

Spring time is the best time.

To celebrate the beautiful weather here in Alberta, my husband (Steve) and I decided to take Jack out for an off the leash stroll at the park.
As we were loading up to leave I thought I would take that opportunity to set up the Bumblebee bomb.
It was a beautifully though out plan, yet it ended up as a frantic, rushed mess.

We decided to go to the local park, and I had grabbed my step ladder and started to set up shop while my husband watched after our son. In the midst of choosing a suitable tree, and getting everything strung up; I looked up and noticed that my family was no where to be seen.
It was not shortly after that I heard a high pitch scream from the distance.
It seems as though my husband and son went for a little walk around the park, and ended up by the main road. Jacks new interest are cars, and he wanted to see them zip past ...and then wanted to run out on the street. Of course Steve was there to stop him, but as Jack is only 2.5 he has a little trouble holding his disappointment.

Then the pressure was on!!
The car was on the other side of the park, and my family was across the field.
My husband was struggling to contain our tantruming child while Jack flailed and went limp like a softened spaghetti noodle.
I rushed to get tie off the loose ends, snapped some quick photos, and then rushed to the car with my camera, and stepladder in hand.

My husband was trying his best to drag our tired, tear soaked child back in the direction of our car and didn't notice that I was already locked and loaded, and was heading in his direction.
He seemed relieved to see me (and especially the car).

We drove home in silence...
I think Yarn bombing will be best to do alone.

I am a bit disappointed. I was hoping to have a couple more bumblebees to hang, but I lost interest in the project.
Eh! Good enough.

Spring Cleaning

So, as you can see, I have changed the blog around a bit!

I am not a very computer competent person. As a result, I have been reduced to using the very generic templates that is provided from the "blogs-r-us".
I was snooping through some other blogs and started to get very self conscious about how mine looked... like when you show up to Art class and soon realize that yours is the odd one out.
I am hoping as I get better at this blog thing to switch some more stuff around, and eventually start adding some more blog-like things.

For instance, how on earth is a blog-roll added?! Or how can you create your own background, and title?

I guess this means that if you are a person who hates change, and like to take a peek in from time to time, that you may get disappointed.

So this is a small step towards a better design that will hopefully be achieved in the end.

*Sigh*... and I use to be a Design student.

Don't worry! I haven't forgotten about you.

Whew!
So, let me start off by saying that this last month has been insane!
Between bridal showers, stagettes, actual wedding, toddler tantrums and the works; It has been nearly impossible to come online and catch up.
Because lets face it, by the end of the day I need any energy left to wipe off all the food and boogers... *ugh* and feces, because 'yes' we are now potty training!

So actually I have not done any knitting or crocheting for a while and my poor cold needles are starting to collect dust.
Even the progress I had made with those annoying skulls was short lived. I had spend two whole evenings trying to motivate myself to just 'doing it' and in the end I now have a total of 7 skulls to show for it...and the wedding is this pending weekend.
I am hoping to crank out at least 8 more before the end of the week so there will be at least 15 for the head table, but I am not hopeful. It is a good thing I rarely talk to this cousin.
Actually, I don't feel all to guilty about my non-progress with this project. I initially expected help, and requested it when 'life' (Jacks grimy little toddler fists) grabbed me by the hair and pulled me in the opposite direction.
I have in fact mentioned that help would be required if she wanted to be super finicky about it.
So: no help= no stress.

It is disappointing that I was away for all this time, and I have no photos of yarn bombing to show any progress with my own little endeavors.

I do have a couple projects that I need to hang, although I find that the hardest part about yarn bombing. For some reason I tend to clam up before voyaging out. Although,  once it is done I get a huge rush of euphoria and adrenaline.

I would like to take this time, however, to mention that the phone bomb that I set up over a couple months ago (at least) is still up!! WHAT?! I know, eh! It was insane. I was just walking around and I kinda forgot about it and then I noticed it was still there. I guess it kinda jolted me back to 'getting-things-accomplished-mode'.

Anyways! I will bid you Adiu.

As a parting gift to hold anyone over while I am incapacitated with children and skulls
... I show you this ...

Partial reason for my absence...

..and where the magic happens...
